Bro. Eddie Villanueva, the leader of the Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Pilipino Movement graced as the keynote speaker today in the 11th People’s Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Mindanao Summit in Iligan City today and highlighted his speech on his faith in the Filipino people to make a better future for the nation.
Villanueva, praised the capacity of the Filipinos to rise over troubled times, being flexible and adoptable to other cultures and languages and the skill to be the best in the world.
In an analogy he said, “throw the Pinoys in the water and they will swim. Send them out to Asia and they can speak the languages of the Japanese, Koreans, Malaysians, etc. Send them out to the Middle East and they can adapt to the ways of the desert. Send them to North America and in no time at all, they speak more American than the Gringos themselves. And they can work as a team, winning the admiration of people all over the world,” Villanueva said.
He also praised the likes of Leah Salonga, Monique Wilson, Cecil Licad, Freddie Aguilar, Gary Valenciano, Paeng Nepomoceno, Efren “Bata” Reyes, Eugene Torre, Charise Pimfengco, Manny Pacquiao and many others whom he said have become global citizens.
PMAP was the same group that adjudge Villanueva last 2004 as the most qualified presidential candidate. “Villanueva showed himself to be a mobilizer, guardian and captivator — three of five competencies that, PMAP said, were required of a president.
With his leadership capability as shown in the growth of the Jesus Is Lord Movement, one can only conclude that the guy can lead and inspire people.
If the country has to solve the problem of disunity, we should have a President who is a true leader and an inspiration to all the Filipino people.”
This year, PMAP was celebrating its 11th Mindanao Summit with the theme of “Ikarangal ang Diwang Pilipino: Malasakit, Bayanihan, Pananagutan” which Mr. Arnold Garbanzos, one of the sponsors of the event said, "Villanueva truly embodies it."
Villanueva ended his speech with the road map to the new Philippines which Mayor Lawrence Cruz of Iligan City appreciated and agreed with that the number one asset of the nation is its human resource.
Villanueva also challenge the audience to remember the heroes of the past who laid their lives down for the emancipation of the nation. He said that it is high time that the Filipinos must believe in themselves to bring about change that they want in the nation so to have a glorious future as a nation.
Many of those that attended appreciated Villanueva's sincerity and passion for the nation that was also evident to the number of people who wanted to take a picture with him after his speech and some were even persuading him to run again for president.
“Believe in the Filipino, believe in the future of the Philippines,” Villanueva reiterated in his speech.
